In an effort to provide architectural inspection for new buildings and preserve existing and historic buildings, the New York City Building Code requires special inspection on various architectural systems of the buildings.

The number of code-mandated tests is based on the square footage of the project,and the locations of such tests are to be uniformly distributed throughout the project area where the loads would be imposed to the soils.
